Are Lifetime VPN Subscriptions a Scam?

There isn’t a straight yes or no answer to this question. The thing with lifetime VPN subscriptions is that it varies provider-by-provider. Where some may be scamming you, others try their best in actually providing you great value.

Of course, who does not like seeing a great deal or massive discount on their favorite provider? With a lifetime deal, you may even be compelled to get one, before it expires. However, this is where your due diligence is required.

Just like I mentioned above, I only recommend two lifetime VPN subscriptions even from this list, and those include PureVPN’s and Ivacy’s. Apart from these, other providers cannot be considered as “trustworthy” options.

Why? Because they fail at meeting even the most basic needs of a VPN user. For instance, VPN Unlimited, VPNSecure, and BulletVPN do not unblock streaming platforms or work in China. Neither do they have an audited logging policy.

How Do VPN Lifetime Subscriptions Work?

A quick Google search on the term will bring you hundreds of results with VPNs offering lifetime subscription plans. However, is it actually even possible for a provider to offer a deal at such cheap rates?

Like I mentioned above, only a few VPN services actually go the extra mile for customers, such as PureVPN and Ivacy. Other less reputed names mostly offer such deals to get more customers to sign up, while offering them no valuable incentives.

In theory, such a model would fail particularly for a provider that already has a short customer base. Why? A subscription plan for 5 years that could cost anywhere around a $1000 being sold for $39 would just lead to straight losses.

Popular names, on the other hand, have the resources available to support such a discounted rate. And mostly, they offer such subscriptions only to spread more awareness about cyber security, which is what Pure and Ivacy do.

Why Do VPNs Offer Lifetime Subscription Plans?

Lots of newbie VPN services face trouble in making money after launching. To attract buyers, these providers offer deals that sound “too good to be true.”

In reality, these deals are actually “legit” and push the services’ popularity, because let’s be real; who does not like availing amazing discounts, right?

If I were to create a VPN service and sell a lifetime plan for $30, I’d surely find a lot of takers. This is just the way it works. People love specials/discounts.

However, this business model is not all that “successful”. VPN providers that offer lifetime deals require an endless stream of new subscribers for funding.

Since most of these providers have a “sucky” service, they end up losing more money than earning. Only some options in the marketplace can be considered “trustworthy.”

And, I have already added those lifetime vpn subscription in this guide. Of course, I only recommend going for PureVPN and Ivacy, as they have been in the industry for a long time!

Lifetime VPN Subscription According to Reddit

Most Redditors asking about lifetime VPN subscriptions usually have trouble understanding what “lifetime” actually entails.

Although I have already described this in detail above, I did find a helpful comment on a Reddit thread, which I have displayed below.

Wrapping Things Up

Undoubtedly, lifetime VPN subscriptions sound really juicy to the layman. They are designed in such a way that offers you the most cheapest prices on their services, despite following a “gimmicky” business model.

Nevertheless, if you stick to the recommended options in this listing, you will not have to worry about anything. You can feel assured to receive the best bang for your buck with all the capabilities of a premium service.

I hope you found this guide informative. Feel free to comment below and share your experiences with the above providers. Also, do check out our best VPN deals guide for discounts on some of the industry’s top VPN services 😉

so first: I have tried PureVPN and Ivacy.
I must say: lifetime subscription is not what you think. PureVPN explains to me: its for the life of the product. And they change product every 5 years or so. Nevertheless, its a good price for 5 years.
PureVPN does work in china but both Disney&Netflix now detects their VPN list and block it. their technical support is top-notch.
Ivacy , although offer many ways to connect, will fail to connect 50% of the times (my experience) and their manual connection documentation is pointing to some missing pages. They don’t support OpenVPN standard but hey: they cheap as hell.
