On Tuesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced that fast bowler Ebadot was ruled out of Asia Cup 2023, with Tanzim announced as a replacement.

The right-arm quick bowler, 29, suffered a knee injury during last month’s one-day international series against Afghanistan.

The BCB expressed hope that he would be healthy enough to compete in the upcoming ODI World Cup set for October 5 despite being ruled out of Asia Cup 2023 with Tanzim as his substitute for the six-nation Asia Cup.

In a statement, BCB chief medical officer Debashis Chowdhury indicated that Ebadot required additional treatment for his anterior cruciate ligament injury, causing his absence from the
Asia Cup 2023, scheduled for August 30 through September 17.

Given the significance of the ODI World Cup to the Bangladesh team, Chowdhury affirmed the BCB’s commitment to examining every safe medical option available to get Ebadot back to full fitness.

To fill Ebadot’s spot, the BCB gave uncapped pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib his maiden call-up.

So, fans of Ebadot will be a little disappointed when they watch Asia Cup Live streaming from anywhere – but the replacement is equally impressive.

In 37 List A games, the 20-year-old has claimed 57 wickets, including nine in three games of the most recent Emerging Men’s Asia Cup.

Thanks to Tanzim’s call-up, the 2020 ICC U19 World Cup-winning team now has five players on the Bangladesh roster. The other players are Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Tawhid Hridoy, Shoriful Islam and Shamim Hossain.

Bangladesh will compete in thrilling Group B fixtures with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Another match fans are raving to see on the 2nd of September is India vs Pakistan in New Zealand and other countries.
